George moved to Manitoba in 1971 to begin his teaching career in Deloraine. He holds a BA in the College of Arts and Science from UND, a Teachers Certification from BU and a CAE (Canadian Adult Educators) Certification from Red River Community College.

George spent ten years in the high school system, 16 years at Assiniboine Community College. After leaving the College, he spent two years as the Promotions Coordinator for the Riverbank Development project and ten years as the Executive Director of Career Connections Incorporated. After a brief retirement, George took on the Program Director position for the Brandon Neighbourhood Renewal Corporation, Brandon Energy Efficiency Program. George is now retired full-time.

George is married to his wife Peggy of 48 years and has three grown children. As an active volunteer, George has been part of several major events in Brandon and the Province and served as Director on many Boards, including Brandon Eagles Gymnastics Center (founding member), Brandon Youth Hockey Association, Canadian College Athletic Association. Golf Manitoba, Golf Canada Executive Board, Brandon Neighbourhood Renewal Corporation and the Community Health & Housing Association.

George has been a satisfied member of the Westoba Credit Union for approximately 35 years.
