Background and Experience

I grew up on a mixed grain/cattle farm near Cardale, Manitoba, and attended the AgriBusiness diploma program in Brandon at Assiniboine Community College. After graduation, I moved with my wife to Lethbridge, Alberta, to pursue a career in Agriculture Retail; I worked for three years with South Country Co-op in Southern, AB., as a Sales Agronomist and then on to Agriculture Lending with 1st Choice Savings & Credit Union as the Agriculture/Commercial Territory Manager. In this position, I dealt with large commercial feedlots, and large irrigation operations involved in sugar beets, potatoes etc. My wife and I decided to move back to Manitoba to be closer to family and friends where I worked in Agronomy again with Nutrien Ag Solutions until I found my way to Westoba.

I bring a unique view to agriculture finance as I have an extensive background in agronomy as well as ag finance. I believe a deep understanding of agriculture markets; farm operations and farm planning is key to being a successful agriculture lender. You can’t teach agriculture experience, but you can teach lending. Understanding AgriBusiness is key to better lending practices and relationships.
