Westman Volt Hockey Receives Funding from Westoba Inspire

Date: March 4, 2024

Representatives from Westman Volt Hockey and Westoba Credit Union met on February 29th to announce funding in the amount of $10,000 in support of the purchase of new arena boards which help the team to structure their games.

As a new sport to Canada and the only club of its kind in the Westman area, Westman Volt Hockey is an inclusive sport that has built a community that intends to grow.

The Westman Volt Hockey meets weekly at the Keystone Centre. They have a space they rent which allows them to keep the arena up as well as store their game chairs; only having to move out for larger events held at the Keystone.

“Maneuvering this chair is harder than it looks,” said Westoba President and CEO, Jim Rediger. “I’m impressed with the skill and dexterity the players have developed in the short time this sport has been established in Brandon; investing in this sport aligns with the innovative thinking and inclusion Westoba prides itself on.”
