How Credit Unions Make a difference in your community

Date: October 14, 2020

Tomorrow, October 15th is International Credit Union Day and this year we are celebrating ‘Inspiring Hope for a Global Community.’

So, what makes your local credit union different than a big bank? Credit Unions are member owned and community focused, which means dollars are put directly back into the communities we serve.

As a Manitoba Credit Union, Westoba is committed to recognizing the needs of our communities and helping to create long-term investments in those communities by supporting and funding projects that build sustainable community infrastructure through our Westoba Inspire Community Investment Program.

The Westoba Inspire Community Investment Program has given away over almost $100k in funding since 2017 to 13 different communities. While the applications for large funding requests are open in March and September of each year, Westoba Inspire takes funding requests year-round!

Check out the map below to see the projects Westoba Inspire has invested in over the last three years. Head to the Westoba Inspire website to learn more!
