Holiday Message To Members from President and CEO, Jim Rediger

To our valued members, 

As we approach the close of another incredible year, we reflect on the remarkable achievements and growth we have experienced together. This past October, Westoba celebrated 61 years of dedication to the communities we serve—a milestone only made possible through the loyalty and trust of our members, the commitment of our employees, and the support of our communities. 

Throughout 2024, we continued to live “The Westoba Way” by giving back to the communities that have supported us over the years. Through the Westoba Inspire Fund, we provided funding to projects that enhance community infrastructure, demonstrating our commitment to building strong, resilient communities. Additionally, our team members volunteered, donated, and contributed their time to initiatives and events that truly make a difference. 

In 2024, we built on the foundation set by the refined Purpose, Mission, Vision, and Values established last year. These guiding principles have driven our efforts to make meaningful impact in the lives of our members and communities, reinforcing our dedication to trust, integrity, innovation, and inclusivity in every interaction. 

A major development this year has been the journey of Collaboration MB, our partnership with Assiniboine Credit Union and Caisse Financial Group. In June, this merger was approved by members of all three organizations, with those who voted showing a strong vote of support, as we move toward creating a new, uniquely Manitoban credit union. Effective January 1, 2025, this merger will position us as one of the largest credit unions in Manitoba and among the top ten in Canada, allowing us to meet the diverse needs of our members, employees, and communities with an even greater reach and resources. 

The newly merged organization will combine the strengths of each credit union while respecting the diverse needs of our member-owners and communities. Together, we are poised to continue to deliver on our commitment to quality service, competitive positioning, and convenient solutions. We will remain dedicated to urban, rural, agricultural, and Francophone communities, providing French language services and upholding a value-based approach to banking. These commitments are core to who we are and the future we envision for our members. 

For your banking experience—whether in-branch, by telephone, mobile or online—please know it will take time to strategically integrate operations after January 1, 2025. For the time being, it is business as usual, and we will provide ample communication ahead of any changes to ensure a smooth transition.
