June is Pride Month! Westoba is using this time to learn, reflect and celebrate diversity as part of our ongoing diversity, equity, and inclusion journey.
Here are some ways we are celebrating and serving as an ally this month.
Use of pronouns in our email signatures.
We recognize the importance of using proper pronouns and are encouraging our staff to be their authentic self at work by adding pronouns to their email signature. Inclusive language such as pronoun usage aims to ensure that everyone is seen and included. Adding pronouns to email signatures is optional for all employees.
Use of phonetic spelling in our email signatures.
Although the pronunciation of names can often be clear, phonetic spelling can be a helpful tool to ensure everyone uses the correct pronunciation. It truly is an important effort in creating an inclusive workplace where everyone belongs.
Reflection and action.
While Pride Month is a great time to celebrate and support the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, Westoba is committed to making diversity, equity, and inclusion a year-round focus. Our staff are encouraged to host a Pride-themed event for their team and commit to initiatives that support allyship and inclusivity in the workplace.
